Monday, Hayzel woke up to his newly decorated daily board:
This gives him an overview of the day, his schedule, and the weather.
He worked on the last module in the Fractions chapter in T4L . He completed the supplemental worksheet and took the last quiz, which he aced.
His last set of footie pajamas :(
He followed that with geography worksheets:
and a module on the seasons in T4L:
After school we met up with some friends (old and some new ones too!) at a park for some fun.
Then we hit the new Microsoft store at our local mall for a workshop.
Finally, we went to the library for some new books:
Happily skipping to the car with a new load of reading books.
Tuesday morning, there was more geography worksheets, fractions review, and reading comprehension.
In the afternoon, we went to Science Explorer where we learned about the lungs.
Wednesday was character education day. Hayzel is learning about being respectful.
First he watched a clip on Youtube from the Kids for Character video:
and together we read some books:
We discussed how being respectful means: Treat others how you would like them to treat you.
Afterwards Hayzel decided he wanted to do a “project”. He didn’t know what exactly, but he knew it had to be done with water and sugar. So we went on Google for some ideas and decided to make rock candy.
Dissolving the sugar in boiling water.
The sugar is suppose to crystallize around the piece of yarn.
It should take about a week for the rock candy to form, so I’ll update more about it at a later post.
T ball practice was cancelled because of the weather that afternoon.
On Thursday morning, Hayzel and I played a Fractions memory game I made with the help of our trusty laminator.
He had a lot of fun and we played for about an hour.
Then we decided to leave early so that we could stop at the store for some new rain boots before we headed to dance class.
He really enjoyed himself during class:

Friday was little co op day. Carolyn hosted and we continued the ocean theme with some more crafts and activities.
After co op I had scheduled schoolwork for Hayzel to do. Jen told us she was heading to the beach that afternoon and invited us. I initially said no, but after going outside and realizing how hot the day was turning out to be, and some serious arm-twisting from Tania, we decided to play hooky and go to the beach.
It was amazing. It was a beautiful warm day, and the kids played to their hearts content.
Days like those make me realize how lucky we all are to be homeschoolers. It took no less than 5 seconds for me to adjust our plans and head out, and there was no one to answer to but ourselves. Because of it, we got to enjoy one final day at the beach this year. In October! Crazy, right?
