Week 1:
After a great first day of school and a field trip to the museum on day 2; days 3 and 4 of Kindergarten were a breeze.
Thursday morning we had a messy play date at Olivia’s house.
Followed in the afternoon by a math lesson on Comparing Place Values,
and a Language Arts lesson on Sights and Sounds of diagraph ea:
Since it was the first week of school we kept it short and sweet. Friday was a free day and we got ready for the beginning of fall sports during the weekend.
Week 2 proved to be quite a challenge. Over the weekend Hayzel Sr. developed a nasty cold. By Monday little Hayzel came down with a less severe but still nasty version of the cold, so Monday was a sick day. On Tuesday, I woke with the with the same type of cold Sr had. So Tuesday was also a sick day.
By Wednesday, Hayzel was on the mend, so while Sr. took a much needed nap, he did some online lessons.
For Language Arts he worked on Sights and Sounds of th:
On Thursday, Sr worked from home so schoolwork was a quiet activity:
For LA Hayzel practiced the Sights and Sounds of ar
and did some supplemental worksheets.
On Friday Hayzel worked on a review of sounds ck, ea,sh, ch, th, ar, and since there are no chapter tests in LA this wraps up the first chapter in T4L’s 1st grade LA curriculum.
In Math, he worked on Identifying Even and Odd numbers. This is the last module on Chapter 1 for math, so on Monday we will begin a review of Place Values, Counting by 2s & 5s, and Even and Odd numbers before he takes the Chapter test.
We had a few meetups planned for this past week all of which we missed out on in order to protect the general public from our germs. So we are going to try to reschedule missed evens for a later date. While it could’ve been better, week 2 ended up being a good week school-wise.
For Week 3 we have a packed schedule which includes our town festival, a scavenger hunt, science club, and an ambulance tour.
Below are a Summary of Hayzel's T4L reports for the last 2 weeks:
