* Found this post that I had written back in October and never published. *
On Wednesday (after our Not-Back To School field trip) we went to our first Wee Wonders class at the local Audubon Society.
Ms. Kim taught the kids about animals who use camouflaging techniques to protect themselves.
After a few indoor activities the kids got to go out exploring for animals camouflaging themselves in nature.
They also did a scavenger hunt. Ms. Kim set out 10 white bunnies and 10 brown bunnies within the bases of the trees. Nearly all the kids found all the white bunnies and only a few found all the brown ones. It illustrated the point of how easy it was for animals that use camouflage to hide from predators.
At the end of the class the kids did an art project were they colored in a bug to blend in with a printed background.
Great class!
On Friday Hayzel and Jayden began their Brickpalooza class.
The classes are divided into 6 weeks series. The first series of classes concentrates on Machines.
During the first class the kids built a car. The instructor asked the kids to split up into pairs and Jayden and Hayzel each found a friend to partner up with. Each kid works on one part of the car and when they are done they put it together. Afterwards they use it to complete some experiments. They a had a lot of fun and learned quite a lot.
A great ending to week 2.
